SOUS CHEF WANTED FOR ITALIAN EATERY IN CARSTAIRS, ALBERTA.

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A SOUS CHEF FOR OUR FAMILY ITALIAN RESTAURANT LOCATED IN CARSTAIRS, ALBERTA.


THE HEAD CHEF IS A WONDERFUL, WARM-HEARTED INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS A PASSION FOR HER FARE AND IS MORE THAN WILLING TO TEACH ANYONE THAT WANTS TO LEARN ITALIAN COOKING.


THE RESTAURANT IS MID TO HIGH END AND ALL OF THE STAFF GET ALONG VERY WELL WITH EACH OTHER.


THIS ROLE CAN BE OPEN FOR A JR. SOUS CHEF OR UP TO A VERY SEASONED CHEF WHO JUST WANTS TO WORK PART TIME ONLY. THE HOURS ARE FOR THE EVENING SHIFT 5 NIGHTS PER WEEK NO MORE THAN 20-30 HOURS PER WEEK. THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED MONDAYS EVERY WEEK. HOURLY RATE WILL BE COMPETITIVE DEPENDING UPON EXPERIENCE.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE: ASSISTING THE HEAD CHEF IN WHATEVER SHE ASKS OF YOU, BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR DUTIES AS THE CHEF – INVENTORY, STAFF MANAGEMENT, FOOD PREPARATION. THIS ROLE WILL ALSO ENTAIL OVERSEEING AND DIRECTING ALL ASPECTS OF THE OPERATION OF THE KITCHEN IN PROVIDING FUNCTIONAL ASSISTANCE, COORDINATING ACTIVITIES/FUNCTIONS WITH FOOD AND BEVERAGE ESPECIALLY DURING THE ABSENCE OF THE CHEF!


REQUIREMENTS: HAVE A PASSION FOR FOOD AND ENJOYS THE PREPARATION/CREATING MENUS, GOOD BUSINESS SENSE BEING EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE, PAST OR CURRENT EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A KITCHEN, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS, INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS, ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, QUICK THINKING, TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS, ABILITY TO WORK WITH FIGURES/BUDGETS, ABILTY TO COPE UNDER STRESSFUL CONDITIONS, LEADERSHIP ABILITIES, ADHERENCE TO SPECIFIC INGREDIENTS/MEASUREMENTS FOR VARIOUS MENUS, HAVE A HIGH LEVEL OF HYGIENE/CLEANLINESS IN THE RESTAURANT/KITCHEN AREA, TEAM PLAYER, BEING CREATIVE AND WILLING TO ALWAYS TRY SOMETHING NEW.


DUTIES: ENSURING CONSISTENT/SMOOTH RUNNING OF THE FOOD PRODUCTION, EFFECTIVE STOCK PURCHASE – RECEIPT AND STORAGE, ALWAYS ENSURING WORK AREAS ARE CLEAN, ASSISTING OTHER KITCHEN STAFF WHEN NEEDED, SUPERVISING PERFORMANCE OF KITCHEN STAFF TO ENSURE PROPER ACTIVITY, PERFORM ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS AS COMMUNICATED BY SUPERIORS, ENSURING FOOD STANDARDS ARE ADHERED TO IN REGARDS TO QUALITY, QUANTITY, TEMPERATURE AND SAFETY, ALWAYS PROMOTING HIGH LEVEL OF SERVICE FOR CUSTOMER’S EXPECTATIONS OF THE FOOD, HANDLE ALL COMPLAINTS,INQUIRIES, SUGGESTIONS BY CUSTOMERS ACCORDINGLY, RESOLVE DISPUTES WITHIN THE KITCHEN AND REPORT ANY UNRESOLVED ISSUES TO HEAD CHEF/UPPER MANAGEMENT, PROMOTE GOOD TEAM SPIRIT, PARTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARATION OF KITCHEN CLEANING ROSTERS AND SUPERVISION OF CLEANING SCHEDULES.
